What is 'PUBLIC HEALTH'?

Public Health

Public health professionals play a different role than the typical image of a physician, such as a physician who plays a critical role in a time-sensitive situation, such as an emergency physician, or a physician who provides primary care to the community population. Specifically, it is to contribute to reducing the probability of avoidable diseases. For this reason, public health is different in nature from clinical and basic medicine in that it focuses on populations rather than individuals. In addition, Article 1 of the Medical Practitioners Act states that "Medical practitioners shall contribute to the improvement and promotion of PUBLIC HEALTH and ensure the healthy lives of the citizenry, through the administration of medical care and health guidance", and a number of other matters related to public health are regulated by law. Therefore, we work with health centers, municipal, prefectural, national and other governmental and related organizations, and we also work in the general community away from hospitals and clinics.
